Smoke-Ready Community Virtual Meeting, Nov. 2nd, 6:30–8pm

Imagine the Methow as a “Smoke-Ready Community…”

  • With safe, clean indoor air for everyone during oppressive wildfire smoke such as suffered this September.

  • Where everyone understands how to access and interpret air quality data, and apply it for decision making in their lives

  • Without smoke from unnecessary burning

  • Taking measures to protect everyone’s health so living with smoke from wildfire and forest health initiatives didn’t feel so hard

The community will have the opportunity to ask questions and share ideas about how to keep our air clean and ourselves healthy in an upcoming virtual workshop on November 2nd from 6:30-8pm titled “Preparing a Smoke-Ready Action Plan: Community Values, Vision and Goals.” Pre-registration is not required.

Clean Air Methow has installed 23 low-cost air quality sensors manufactured by "Purple Air" throughout the Methow River watershed from Lost River to Pateros. These sensors deliver real-time information about particulate matter pollution in our community, and we’ve heard from lots of people how they’ve come to depend on them – especially during wildfires. This year, we received an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) grant to promote the visibility and accessibility of this project towards improving air quality and health in the Methow Valley. Please take our survey to help raise awareness about our purple air sensors and they key public health role they can play during smoky periods:
